Esther D. May

May 12, 1939 — March 19, 2013

Esther Darline Carter May ("Dimples"), age 73 of Greencastle, PA, passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 in Hagerstown. Born on May 12, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Beulah Smith. She had three brothers, Austin, Floyd, and Howard, and three sisters, Nancy, Pauline, and Peggie. Esther worked for the Cannery of Frederick, MD for fifteen years, for the Holiday Inn of Frederick for five years, for the Frederick Trading Company for four years, and finally the Frederick County Board of Education until retirement. She loved playing cards and bingo with her best friend, Shirley Rippeon of Frederick. She is survived by five children, Douglas Carter and wife, Linda of Hagerstown, Fay White and husband, Donnie of Greencastle, PA, Kitty Garza and husband, Joe of Hagerstown, Michael Carter of Hagerstown, and Patsy Lewis of Myersville. Esther leaves behind eleven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Esther loved her family and friend very much. The family will received friends on Friday, March 22, 2013 from 5 to 7 PM at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick where services will begin at 7 PM in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home. Pastor Dave Howell will officiate.
