Robert Elvir Kallstrom

Mr. Robert (Bob) Elvir Kallstrom, 74, died December 16, 2012. Born September 27, 1938, in Norwood, MA, he was a son of the late Elvir H. and Alma C. Kallstrom. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Maureen; son, David; daughter-in-law Susan; several grandchildren; brother, Richard Kallstrom; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Schindel; brother-in-law Richard Israel; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Paul, in August of this year. He graduated from Maryville College in Maryville, Tennessee and from graduate school at Frostburg State University. His business career included working in computer-related management positions for more than forty years. He was the founder and president of Softrac America, Inc. until his retirement. He had a keen interest in community service. At the time of his death he was on the Board of Trustees at Maryville College and the Record Street Home. Previously, he had been Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Community Foundation of Frederick County, President of the Historical Society of Frederick County, and Chairman of the Frederick County Interagency Data Processing Authority. Bob also served on the Board of Trustees of Hood College, was on the Board of Trustees of the First Bank of Frederick and the First Frederick Financial Corporation. He was a long-time member of the Rotary Club of Frederick and the Frederick Coffee Club. He had a lifelong interest in baseball, and although he supported local teams, he remained a diehard Boston Red Sox fan since his childhood. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM, Friday, December 21, 2012, in the Etchison Memorial Chapel at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701. The Rev. Albert K. Lane III from St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Utica will officiate. Inurnment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Community Foundation of Frederick County, 312 E. Church St., Frederick, MD 21701, to establish a scholarship in Bob's name.
