Claiborne Steele Trott

Mrs. Claiborne Steele Trott, 87, of Frederick, died Thursday, September 30, 2010 at Homewood at Crumland Farms. She was the wife of the late C. Merritt Trott, who died on Dec. 27, 1990.

Born Dec. 9, 1922 in Charleston, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late William Issac and Maria Randolph Carter Steele.

Mrs. Trott was an executive secretary at Frederick Trading Company for over 30 years. In 2002, she became a resident at Homewood where she enjoyed conducting craft classes. She was well liked and well thought of by many. She leaves behind many friends at Homewood. Mrs. Trott will be greatly missed.

She is survived by a son, William Randy Trott of Frederick; a daughter, C. Beth Ohlsson of Salisbury; three grandchildren, Sven Ohlsson, Kyle Ohlsson, and Elena Trott; a brother, William Beverly Steele of Easton; and a sister, Shirley Steele Gooch, also of Easton.

Mrs. Trott also will be remembered by Rocky Bireley, Tracy Tackett, and Kaarin Thorfinnson.

She was predeceased by a son, Caleb M. Trott, Jr.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 3, 2010 at Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick. Graveside services will begin at 1 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 4 at Rock Creek Cemetery in Washington, DC. Those wishing to attend should assemble at the cemetery by 12:45 p.m.
