Mrs. Naomi Frances Rebecca Castle Smith, 94, of Jefferson, died on Monday, July 18, 2011, at Tranquillity at Fredericktowne Assisted Living Community. She was the wife of the late Earl Harman Smith, who died on May 2, 1994. Born in Feagaville on August 24, 1916, she was a daughter of the late Harry M. and Lillie R. Lambert Castle. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker for most of her life, a life member of the St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Feagaville, the Women's Bible Class, The Women of the ELCA, and the auxiliary of the National Lutheran Home, in Rockville. She also enjoyed bowling at Arcade lanes for 28 years. Surviving are her three sons, Lee E. Smith, of Jefferson, Stanley G. Smith and wife Donna, of Surfside Beach, SC and James M. Smith and wife Brenda, of Jefferson, seven grandchildren, Kenneth Lee Smith and wife Ann, Joseph L. Smith, and wife Stacey, Paul L. Smith, Douglas T. Smith, Mark T. Smith, Lisa M. Mackley and Jamie Marie Smith, great grandchildren, Dylan and Ashton Smith, Grant and Hannah Smith, Corey, Christian and Alexis Mackley, Raegan and Paige Smith and Destiny Wooldridge, Also surviving are many nieces and nephews and brother-in-law, Edward Smith, of Jefferson and sister-in-law, Margaret Wolfe, of Frederick. She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, G. Marie Smith, brothers, Eugene M. D. Castle, Chester C. P. Castle and Grayson B. Castle and one sister Martha G. C. White. Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m., on Wednesday, July 20, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 PM. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., on Thursday, July 21, 2011, at the St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Feagaville. The Rev. Kenneth E. Gill, Jr., pastor of the church will officiate. Interment will be in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick. Pallbearers will be her seven grandchildren. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 5463 Jefferson Pike, Frederick, MD 21703.
