Hilda Mae Smith

Mrs. Hilda Mae Smith, age 91 of Crestwood Village, Frederick died on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at the Golden Living Nursing Home, Frederick. She was the loving wife of the late Paul Bernard Smith, Sr., who died on July 20, 2002. They were married in 1938. Born in Frederick County on February 17, 1920, she was the daughter of the late William D. Ferrell and Lettie O. (Gross) Ferrell.

Mrs. Smith was a life member of Jefferson United Church of Christ. She loved helping out at the church suppers. She worked at Fribush Pharmacy, Sagner Inc. and was also a caregiver for Bobby Turner. She was a member of the Merryland Homemaker, Crestwood Red Hatters and Crestwood Lunch Bunch. She also loved playing bingo at the clubhouse and cards with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all her friends at Crestwood Village including her best friend Grace Heil.

She is survived by her three children, Paul B. Smith, Jr. and wife Darlene of Ophelia, VA, Sharon E. Morgan and husband Richard of Frederick and Sandra J. Rice of Jefferson, 11 grandchildren, Denny, Tammy, Cindy, Lisa, Michelle, Mary Ann, Missy, Sherry, Brian, Christina, and Sharon Kay, 18 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She is additionally survived by her sister-on-law Lorraine Ferrell and brothers-in-law Ray Smith, and Ralph Smith and wife Catherine. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Leon Ferrell, Sister, Alice Baker, Sons-in-law Wesley Rice, Charlie Tobery, and Larry Reuter, mother and father in law, John M. and Avie C. Smith, 5 sister-in laws, and and 4 brother-in laws.

Friends will be received on Friday, December 30, 2011 from 7 to 9 PM at the Keeney & Basford P.A. Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. Funeral Services are planned for Saturday, December 31, 2011 at 11 AM at the Jefferson United Church of Christ, 3837 Jefferson Pike, Jefferson, MD 21755. Rev. John Shillenburg will officiate. The interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick. Serving as pallbearers will be Eddie Lapole, Dave Crowl, Brian Rice, Geoffrey Brown, Christopher Smith, Johnny Lapole, and Michael Rice.
