On Friday, June 10, 2011, Frank Ashby Rollins was released from the prison of his infirm body and now enjoys wholeness in the presence of his God.
He was born on July 21, 1928, in Spotsylvania, VA to Elizabeth Herbert Long Rollins and Frank Ashby Rollins, Sr. He was a longtime resident of Maryland and most recently of Adamstown.
Frank was affectionately known as Pop Pop to his family who surrounded him in life and death. He was proud of his family: wife and longtime friend, Patsy Murphy Rollins of Ijamsville; son, Gary Rollins and wife Gloria of Woodsboro, grandchildren, Nicki Conlon and husband Drew and Ashby Rollins and Dina; daughter, Constance Elaine Rollins Hicks and husband Gary of Frederick, grandchildren, Shannon Hicks and Aleen Tindor and husband Josiah, great-grandchildren, Caleb, Sam, and Abigail Tindor; daughter, Gloria Rollins Mullinix and husband Ralph of Damascus, grandson, Jeremy Appleby and fiancee Brandi; son, Patrick Rollins and wife Pam of Mt. Airy, grandchildren, Becky Johnson and husband Frog, great-grandchildren, Izaiah, Mimi and Noah, grandchildren, Shane Rollins and Chelsea Rollins; son, Jeffery Rollins and wife Joanne of Mt. Airy, grandchildren, Kierstin and Meghan Rollins of Plano, TX; sister, Josephine Toombs and half siblings, Deanna, Bobby and the extended family in Virginia.
The family of FaithPoint UMC has expressed loving support in so many ways and will miss their "Mr. Frank". Special thanks to Pop's "Tuesday nurse", "Friday nurse" and "Saturday nurse"; Hospice of Frederick County: special friends Marty, Sue, Tabitha and Katie and the DCP staff who partnered with the family to fulfill Frank's wish to die at home.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 pm, on Fathers' Day, Sunday, June 19, 2011, at Brook Hill UMC, 8946 Indian Springs Road, Frederick, MD, followed by a service celebrating the life of "Franklin the Great". Pastor Tim Dowell will be officiating and music will be led by the FaithPoint worship team. Burial will be at the Brook Hill Cemetery followed by a reception.
