Joseph William Peters

Mr. Joseph "Joe" William Peters, 88, of Frederick, died Sunday, December 18, 2011 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of the late Helen Peters.

He was born on January 12, 1923, in Somerset, Massachusetts and was the son of the late Joseph Sr. and Jessie (Pratt) Peters.

Mr. Peters was a WWII veteran and a POW in Japan from 1942-1945. He was member of the VFW and American Legion.

He is survived by his children, Chris Peters, Thomas Tozzolo and Maryellen Sepa, brother, Chick Peters, eight grandchildren, 12 great-Grandchildren, one great-greatgrandchild, special friend, Belva Rose and the Moss family.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson Greg.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 on Wednesday, December 21, 2011, at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 22, 2011, at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 118 E. Second Street, Frederick. Father Miquel Mateo will officiate. Interment will be at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
