Mr. Charles Charlie Oliver Miller, 77, of Buckeystown, died on Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at his home. He was the husband of Evelyn Betts Miller. Born in Olney on October 3, 1933, he was the son of the late Edith Miller Bobo. He was raised by his loving grandparents the late Russell and Clara Miller. For many years he owned and operated Valley Concrete Contractors. He was a very active member of the Frederick Church of the Brethren, where he served as a deacon for many years, also active in the Prospector's Sunday School Class and had been active with the church in many capacities. Charlie had a great love of the land, enjoyed gardening and was always ready to help anyone, family or friend. Surviving in addition to his wife are three children, Cereasa CiCi Ann Tyeryar and husband Kenneth, of Monrovia, Dennis Eugene Miller and wife Ramona, of Fayetteville, North Carolina and Charlene Elizabeth Miller, of Buckeystown, three sisters, Wanda Thorpe and husband Doug, of Warrington, VA, Jeanne Starkey and husband Charles, of Cumberland and Barbara Mathias and husband Glen, of Mathias, West Virginia, four grandchildren, Michael W. Tyeryar, Sr., and Stacey, Ronald Tyeryar and Christine, Angela Walls and Rick, Dennis E. Miller, Jr., and Michelle, also surviving are 12 great grandchildren and special great grandson, Michael W. Tyeryar, Jr., and many niece and nephews. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., on Friday, July 8, 2011, at the Frederick Church of the Brethren, 201 Fairview Ave., where funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, July 9, 2011. Rev. Dr. Paul Mundey, Rev. Sandi Evans Rogers and Rev. Peter Myers, will officiate. Private interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick. In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions be made to the Deacon Fund and or the Building Fund, of the Frederick Church of the Brethren, 201 Fairview Ave., Frederick, MD 21701.
