Mrs. Anna Pauline Lapole, 90, of Jefferson, died on Monday, December 19, 2011, at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late Charles Edward Lapole, Sr., who died on July 19, 2005. They were married in 1946. Born in Frederick County on July 28, 1921 she was a daughter of the late William Howard and Anna Olivia Crampton Angleberger. Pauline's mother died when she was a baby and she went to live with Grandma Crampton. After the death of her grandmother, Pauline then went to live with her Uncle Pete and Aunt Edna Crampton, who raised her as a daughter. While growing up, she often went to work with Aunt Edna just to spend time with her loving aunt. Pauline's instant family included, Joan Remsberg, Sonny, Jim , Joe and Rich Crampton and Richard Grove. She took a big part in helping to raise these younger sibling's. For most of her life she was a homemaker and farmer's wife, but for a few years she worked in food service at the Valley Elementary School. She was an active and life member of the Jefferson United Church of Christ, the Altar Guild and the Toilers Sunday School Class. Surviving are her four children, Nancy Nichols and husband Bill, of Jefferson, Martha Himes and husband Gary, of Weverton, Wanda Russell and husband Butch, of Middletown and Eddie Lapole and wife Lisa, of Jefferson, three sisters, Hilda, Catherine and Margaret, eight grandchildren, Diane Nichols Shew and Tim, Greg Nichols and Elizabeth, Stacy Flagg and David, Paul Himes, Eric Russell, Brandy Lapole, Jonathan Lapole and Jessica Lapole, two great grandchildren, Murphy Nichols and Kylee Yoder, and many nieces and nephews. She will also be remembered by a sister-in-law, Helen Edwards, of Frederick. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a great grandson, Parker Nichols, three sisters and seven brothers. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 23, 2011, at the Jefferson United Church of Christ Church, 3837 Jefferson Pike, from 10 a.m., until the time of the services at 11:00 AM. The Rev. John D. Shillingburg and Rev. Rebecca S. Shillingburg, pastors of the church, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Reformed Cemetery, Jefferson. The Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick, is in charge of the arrangements.
