Margaret Elizabeth Harrison

January 21, 1922 — December 27, 2011

Mrs. Margaret Elizabeth Peggy Harrison, 89, of Ranson, WV and formerly of Frederick, MD died on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at the home of her daughter. She was the wife of the late Joseph Franklin Harrison Sr. who passed away in 1988.

Born January 21, 1922 in Frederick, MD, she was the daughter of the late Charles C. and Margaret E. (Barthlow) Crum Sr. She attended St. Johns High School in Frederick. She enlisted in the Womens Army Auxiliary Corps in 1943. She was a community volunteer tutoring for literacy for 20 years and spending time at the Taney House as a fireplace cooker, and reenactment garment designer. She was the first Miss Frederick beauty contest winner and an avid singer. She enjoyed attending the Burkes annual family reunions in Virginia.

Peggy is survived by three sons, Joseph F. Harrison, James C.S. Harrison and Paul T. Harrison; one daughter, Victoria F. Buettner; one brother, Charles C. Crum Jr.; two granddaughters, Tori J. Sheppard and May M. Cogle; one grandson, Aubrey Harrison; one great grandson, Andrew Sheppard; three step grandchildren, Peyton Rakes, Austin and Justin Christ; one niece; three nephews; and great-great nephew Allen Crum.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Margaret E. Feightner and Emilie C. Harrison and two sisters Bertha J. Kennedy and Helen V. Crum.

The family will receive friends on Friday, December 30, 2011 from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM at the funeral home. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 31, 2011 at 10:00 AM in the Etchison Memorial Chapel, 106 E. Church St, Frederick. Interment will follow at the Mount Olivet Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Hospice of Panhandle, 122 Waverly Court, Martinsburg, West Virginia 25403.
