Shirley Marie Gibbons

Mrs. Shirley Marie (DeGrange) Gibbons, 73, of Frederick, died Friday, December 23, 2011 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of Harold J. Gibbons Sr. for 56 years.

She was born on March 20, 1938, in Frederick, and was the daughter of the late Harlan and Sadie (Hurst) DeGrange. Mrs. Gibbons was employed with FCPS for 22 years. She was a member of Mount Carmel United Methodist Church in Frederick. In her spare time, she enjoyed Bingo and going to Charlestown Racing and Slots.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by children, Harold Gibbons Jr. and wife Jennie, James Gibbons and girlfriend Brenda, Ronald Gibbons Sr. and wife Brandy, Larry Gibbons Sr. and wife Marsha, Sharon Wahl and husband Daniel and Michael Gibbons, grandchildren, Heather Benton, Kevin Gibbons, Chris Gibbons, Cody Gibbons, Lori Gibbons, Ronnie Gibbons Jr., Ashley Gibbons, Laura Gibbons, Larry Gibbons Jr., Barry Gibbons and Samantha Gibbons, four great-grandchildren, sisters, Geraldine Wilson and Carol Heatherly, brother, David DeGrange, devoted friend, Alice Buchanan Crutchley, numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her siblings, William DeGrange, Harlan DeGrange, Patricia Duvall and Bernard DeGrange.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9pm, on Monday, December 26, 2011, at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick. The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM, on Tuesday, December 27, 2011, in the Etchison Memorial Chapel. Rev. Dr. James Flora will officiate. Pallbearers will be Kevin Gibbons, Chris Gibbons, Cody Gibbons, Ronnie Gibbons Jr., Barry Gibbons and Matt Keating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 515 S. Market Street, Frederick.
