Mrs. Helen Jean Denney, 90, of Frederick, Maryland on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at her home. She was the wife of the late George T. Denney.
Born October 5, 1921 in Newton, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Joseph A. and Isabella (MacDonald) Burns. She served as a second lieutenant for the United States Army Nursing Corp. during World War II.
Helen is survived by three sons, Dr. Philip A. Denney and wife Latitia, Michael T. Denney and wife Marlene, and John E. Denney; three daughters Maureen F. Boggs and husband Gilbert, Eileen C. Erbenji and husband Ahmet, and Jean M. Grotewohl and husband Dan; one sister Catherine Halpin; nine grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Edward Burns, Robert Burns, William Burns, and Frances Burns; one daughter Therese A. Denney; and one granddaughter Christine Denney.
A mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at 11AM at Saint Joseph-on-Carrollton Manor, 5843 Manor Woods Road, Buckystown, Maryland 21771. Interment will follow at Saint Marys Cemetery in Petersville. Arrangements by Keeney & Basford Funeral Home.
