Francis Cristofano

Mr. Francis Cristofano, 81, of Mercersburg, Pa., passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at Frederick Memorial Hospital in the presence of his loving family. He was the loving husband of Helen Gobrecht Cristofano. They were married for 60 years. He was born in Glen Cove, N.Y., on Aug. 11, 1928, and was a son of the late Salvatore and Anna Caputo Cristofano. He lived a full and rich life and was loved and admired by many. He was a devoted husband and a wonderful father and grandfather. He proudly served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Air Force. He was retired from IBM in Gaithersburg where he was division manger and systems analyst. Mr. Cristofano was a member of St. Rocco Catholic Church in Glen Cove, N.Y., and the American Legion and Moose Lodge in Mercersburg, Pa. He was also a member of the Disabled Veterans of America. Surviving in addition to his wife are his three children, Rick Cristofano and his wife, Mary, Pat Casadonte and her husband, John, and David Cristofano and his wife, Jana. Other family members who have felt this loss are his brother, Salvatore Joseph Cristofano; and his sister, Rose Grace. He had a special affection for his grandchildren, Sarah Magaha, Leanna Cristofano, Vince Cristofano, Katie Cristofano, Andy Casadonte, Laura Casadonte, Jacob Cristofano and Megan Cristofano. He will also be missed by several nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 24, at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 9201 A Church St., Libertytown. The celebrant will be the Rev. Jason C. Worley. Interment will be in the Glade Cemetery, Walkersville. Arrangements are by Keeney and Basford, P.A., Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick.
