Till We See You Again: Albert Dacanay, 83
With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Dr. Albert Dacanay, aged 83, on October 17, 2025, surrounded by family and friends. Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in knowing this is not goodbye — just “till we see you again.”
Albert was born in 1941, and for 83 years, he touched the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. A devoted emergency room physician, Albert was passionate about helping others. His unwavering dedication to his work saved countless lives and offered comfort to those in their most trying moments. Albert was not just a doctor, but a healer, a confidant, and a constant source of calm in times of crisis.
Outside the hospital, Albert was a man of simple joys and deep connections. He loved fishing and crabbing, often spending peaceful hours by the water. His gardening skills were unmatched, and the blooms of his garden were a testament to his patience and nurturing spirit. Albert’s love for sports, particularly college and NBA basketball, was a defining part of his life. He could often be found cheering for his favorite teams, discussing game strategies, and sharing his love of the sport with those around him.
But above all, Albert’s greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren. He cherished every moment with them, offering guidance, laughter, and a sense of stability that only a grandparent can provide. His legacy lives on in their lives, as they carry forward the lessons he taught them about kindness, hard work, and the importance of family.
A firm believer in the power of community, Albert spent much of his life helping others, both as a doctor and as a friend, neighbor, and volunteer. Whether it was offering a helping hand to those in need or simply being there for his loved ones, Albert made an indelible mark on everyone he met.
Albert is survived by his wife, Zenaida Mila; children: Brian and his wife Aimee, with their three children: Brianna, Addison, and Charlie; Krystle and her husband John with their two children: Johnny and Colette; his siblings Virginia, Enriqueta, and Rudolfo and many other family members and friends who will miss him dearly. His memory will live on in the countless lives he touched, the stories we share, and the love he gave so freely.
