Alton Lee Reed

Alton Lee Reed, 81, of Frederick, MD. passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 18, 2026. Alton was born on March 3, 1945. He was raised in Urbana. He was the son of the late Vergie Lee Reed Thompson (nee Pangle) and the late Dewey Alton Reed Sr.

Alton was predeceased by his wife of 60 years Betty “Diane” Bruchey Reed, 6/24/1946-1/29/2026. Alton and Diane settled in Frederick to raise their loving children, Lynda Michele Reed Denny and husband Christopher Sr., Jeffrey Reed and his wife Jennifer. In addition to his children, Alton is survived by his grandchildren: Christopher A. Denny Jr (Elise), Nathan A. Denny (Rachael), Michele L. Denny (Kyle), Justin Reed and Jaimee Reed (John). Alton is a great grandfather to Gavin Denny, William Beil and Easton Snead.

Alton is also survived by siblings Nancy Shores, Renee Ribot and Tena Ryan, he was preceded in death by siblings Dewey A. Reed Jr (Skeeter), Larry R. Reed (Bob) and William Reed (Billy). Alton would not wish to be forgotten by his devoted Fingerboard Road neighbors for over 36 years (the Springston Family).

Alton worked in the construction business (Reed Construction) for years and later A&T Sales. Alton enjoyed flea markets before retiring. Alton loved spending time with family and friends (loved talking about past times). Alton enjoyed watching TV (NASCAR with his wife Diane), listening to music and attending 20/20s.

Visitation for family and friends is 10 am to 11 am on Wednesday August 5, 2026. Service to follow at Keeney and Basford Funeral Homes, P.A., 106 East Church Street. Frederick, Md 21701. Interment following at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 Catoctin Hwy, Frederick, MD 21701.
