Ashley Marie Ann Schneider, at the age of 39, peacefully passed away on the night of July 10th, 2026 at Doey’s House in Hagerstown, Maryland.
Ashley was born on September 1st at Montgomery General Hospital in Olney, Maryland, to her parents Gerald Anthony Schneider and Linda Lee Schneider. Akin to everyone, Ashley’s life had highs and lows, but her continuous and willful pursuit of the joys found in life stood out in her character.
She was the graduating class of 2004 from Sherwood High School, followed by graduating with an associates degree in Frederick Community College. She worked as a veterinary technician until was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) when she was 21 years old.
This unfortunately halted her pursuit of becoming a large animal veterinarian, but undauntedly she continued on to discover other joys in life. She was a soccer coach for the Potomac Valley Youth Association (PVYA). She was a lacrosse coach for the Brunswick High School girls team. She helped create a girls lacrosse program in Virginia and participated in an MS walk in which she was also the speaker. She worked selling diamond jewelry throughout the world which brought joy to many people. She was a Jamberry Nail Consultant for over three years allowing her to look after her health and meet people with similar health challenges. In the midst of these accomplishments she was also blessed with her daughter Chelsea in 2011.
When she wasn’t actively participating in the sport Ashley was also an avid fan of sports, especially the University of Florida Gators college football team of which her father was an alumni. She of course had to attend University of Florida and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in 2014. She was a huge fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers professional football team and the D.C. United soccer team alongside her mother. Big on sports, quick to smile and join the fun, which occasionally led to trouble, she could talk with anyone, met many people and touched many lives.
Ashley was preceded in death by her father Gerald Anthony Schneider, her mother Linda Lee Schneider and her son Austin L. Yowell.
She is survived by her daughter Chelsea M. Yowell and her mainstay partner Robert Cockrell who truly demonstrated, “...in sickness or health, to love and to cherish, till death do us part.” Her brother Christopher W. A. Forsythe, his wife Amanda Forsythe and their 3 children Janus Forsythe, Valin Forsythe and Aura Forsythe. Her sister Lee D. A. Schneider who supported Ashley throughout the years, at all hours, from helping with her daughter to ensuring her last days were as comfortable as possible.
Visitation will be at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick, MD, 21701 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. The funeral service will begin at 6:00pm and expects to conclude at or before 7:00pm. The family is requesting a tree be donated in lieu of flowers for the funeral in respect of Ashley’s preferences. Alternatively a donation can be made to either Doey's House Hospice in Hagerstown or the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation in her memory.
