Betty Pauline Hann Miller peacefully passed over the bridge to join loved ones on Monday June 22,2026.
Betty was born in 1933 to Erma and Paul Hann in Lewistown, Maryland. For her first 10 years or so she led the life of a farm girl, frequently commenting in later years of what a wonderful childhood she had.
In the 1940s her family moved from their tenant farm to Frederick. It was there that she met the love of her life, the boy next door, Roy Miller. They were married for almost 70 years.
Betty’s working life spanned over 70 years, including stints at McCroy’s dime store, the old sewing factory on 4th Street, the A and P grocery store, Fredericktown Bank and Trust, Frederick Memorial Hospital, and, her favorite, College View Nursing facility. At all of these stops along the way Betty formed many enduring and loving friendships.
Her death was preceded by those of her parents, husband, and daughter in law.
She is survived by her sons Ken, Tim, Tony. Betty was blessed with 10 grandchildren- Michelle Miller, Jeremy Miller, Jennifer Mercer, Lis Rohr, Evan Miller, PJ Miller, Daniel Miller, Meghan Miller, Ty Miller, and Gabriella Miller. In addition there are 19 great-grandchildren that made her smile everyday.
She is fondly remembered by her cousins Bob Butler and Nancy Hemby, and sister-in-law Shirley Cort-Wright. Over the years she came to rely heavily on the friendship of Ramona Ridgely, her caregiver Rose Vasquez, and her frequent communication with Linda Stonesifer. Betty was indeed blessed by the vast network of family and friends that she enjoyed over the course of her lifetime.
The family wishes to thank Autumn Lake Healthcare at Ballenger Creek and Frederick County Hospice for the love and care Betty received over the past several years.
Family and friends can gather at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Utica, 10621 Old Frederick Road, Thurmont, Maryland 21788, on Tuesday June 30, 2026, from 9:30am until the start of the funeral service at 10am. Interment will immediately follow in the Utica Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages everyone who is able to make a donation to the Salvation Army, Frederick.
