Carl Jane Wiles

Aug 13, 1937 — Oct 30, 2026

Frederick

Carl Jane Wiles, 89, of Jefferson, Maryland, passed away on Friday, October 30, 2026, at Citizens Care and Rehabilitation Center Frederick.

Born on August 13, 1937, in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of the late Horace T. and Fannie May Williams.

An only child for 15 years, until her brother, Thomas Williams came along, Carl Jane grew up at Boscobel in the Gambrill House just south of Frederick (which currently serves as the headquarters for the National Park Service’s Historic Preservation Training Center). In her teens she met Kenneth Wiles, whose family had a dairy operation just across the Monocacy River at Frederick Junction. Shortly after graduating from Frederick High School in 1955, she and Kenny married and over a short span of time had six children and together they continued the dairy operation at Frederick Junction (known today as the Best Farm).

In 1985, Carl Jane and Kenny bought a farm on Lander Road in Jefferson and moved the dairy operation that continues today, carried on by their descendants.

Carl Jane regularly attended local gun raffles, and often sold tickets in support of the fundraising organizations holding them (Amvets, 4-H Center, Jefferson Volunteer Fire Department). A resident of Citizens Care and Rehabilitation Center for almost five years, you could count on her to participate in practically every activity they offered; she especially enjoyed playing Bingo. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Destiny Hurt, Carl Jane’s great granddaughter who was a great help to her while she was still at the family farm, to Becky Stull who Mom considered a bonus daughter, and to the staff of Citizens for the care and compassion they provided.

In addition to her parents, Carl Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Wiles, Sr., in 2005, and her youngest daughter, Janet/Jaimie Wiles Rogers/Causey, in 2015.

She is survived by two daughters: Carolyn Wiles and Jeanne Hall (Darrel); three sons: Kenneth Wiles, Jr., Kevin Wiles (Marsha), and Keith Wiles (Bobbi Jo). She is also survived by 21 grandchildren: Chris Glynn (Devon), Jennifer Carr, Kyle Hall (Temi), William Mossburg, Stephen Mossburg, Tim Rogers, Jr., Joseph Rogers, Esther Rogers, Aimee Ruth Rogers, Danielle Turner, Chance Wiles (Katie), Dakotah Wiles, Trey Wiles (Grace), Shawn Moore (Scott), Christina Wiles (John), Keith Wiles, Jr. (Ashley), Jacob Wiles (Amelia), Harley Wiles, Haylee Wiles, Kori Wiles, and Kalli Wiles. She is also survived by her brother, Thomas Williams, and 20 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
