Cecil Floyd Ball went home to his Father & Savior in heaven on May 10, 2025 at age 89. Born in Moatsville, WV to George Holland and Lily May Ball on April 3, 1936. He was nineth of eleven children and survived by brothers: Hayward, Wilbert, and David Ball. He graduated from Alderson-Broaddus University in 1960 and graduated from West Virginia University in 1962 with a Masters Degree in Education and minor in Biology. He married Darlene Post on August 5, 1962, and they moved to MD in 1964. He taught for 34 years mainly at Winston Church Hill High School in Montgomery Country, MD.
Cecil was very active member at Araby United Methodist Church where he was the organist, member of the choir, and held various roles in several committees since 1969. He enjoyed growing various plants, flowers, and vegetables. Sharing his flowers and produce with everyone gave him great joy. He also was a beekeeper and at one time had 40 hives. Cecil and Darlene loved spending time at their farm in Volga, WV. Many fond memories were made there with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife Darlene and daughters: Lisa Daiker (Bobby), Kelly Sine (Michael), Krista Ball and the following grandchildren: Rachel & Kristina Daiker, Nathan (Rachel) Sine, Leah Sine, Jessica Sine, and Sarah (Nicholas) Carrera and Trevor Gowin. One great granddaughter Raelynn Sine and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at Keeny & Basford Funeral Home on 5/13/2025. Viewing will be from 12:00pm-2:00pm and service at 2:00pm. He will buried on Friday at Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Phillipi, WV. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Araby United Methodist Church, 4548 Araby Church Road, Frederick, MD 21704.
