Cynthia Ropp

Mrs. Cynthia “Cindy” D. Winpigler Ropp, 80, of Frederick, passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2026. She was the wife of the late Paul H. "Junior" Ropp Jr., who preceded her in death in 2014.

Born March 6, 1946, in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late C. Edward Winpigler Sr. and Inez Betson Winpigler.

Cynthia graduated from St. John's Literary Institute in 1964. Cynthia was employed by Geico as a key punch operator, sold Tupperware, was an in-home daycare provider and drove for Hawaiian Limousines. She was a member of both Independent and Junior Hose Companies Ladies Auxiliary for a combined 28 years. She was currently the Assistant Secretary and served as the Chairperson for the Fundraising Committee for 12 years. Cynthia also volunteered many hours for the auxiliary at the Fire Academy Museum in Emmitsburg. In addition, she was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the American Legion Post 11 Ladies Auxiliary. She was active in coaching Yellow Springs Little League Baseball for 17 years. Cynthia was an avid bowler and card player. She loved spending time at the beach and in her pool teaching all her grandchildren how to swim. She also loved watching her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren play sports. She was called Mom, Grandma and Mimi by many.

Cynthia is survived by her children; Diane Grove and husband Alan, Doris Bonner and husband Michael, Paul Ropp and wife Vikki and Richard Ropp and wife Karen, grandchildren; Brandon (Paula), Megan, Kyle (Callie), Caleb (Lindsey), Madison (Sean), Justin, Jacob (Leah), Alexa and Lucas, great grandchildren; Brody, Asher, Maeve, Ellie, Kyle Jr. siblings; David Winpigler (Carole), Judy Rice, Adrian Winpigler, Pamela Martin, Ramona Ridgely, Bion Winpigler (Billie), Shawn Winpigler (Becky), Coral Keller (Tom); sister-in-laws; Peggy Winpigler and Eleanor Winpigler, numerous nieces and nephews. She will also be fondly remembered by her many dear friends including Mary Kay and Dave Robertson and Kathy and Calvin Stewart.

She was preceded in death by daughter, Paula Ann Ropp, siblings; Rhea Whitworth (Donald), Audrey Baker (Donald), Charles Winpigler Jr. and Hubert Winpigler, several sister and brother-in-laws, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1pm to 4pm, on Sunday, April 26, 2026 at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701. The funeral service will be held at 11am, on Monday, April 27, 2026 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
