Dennis Lee Jenkins

October 13, 1946 — January 10, 2026

Jefferson

Dennis Lee Jenkins, 79, of Jefferson, MD, passed away suddenly at his home on Saturday, January 10, 2026.

Denny was born October 13, 1946, to Helen Virginia Dixon Jenkins and William Henry Jenkins of Knoxville, MD. After graduating from Brunswick High School in 1964, Denny began his career with Farmers and Mechanics National Bank at the downtown square corner branch in Frederick, working as a teller before being drafted into the Army and serving his country in the Vietnam War. After his honorable discharge, he returned to F&M and, having completed 47 years of banking service, retired from PNC Bank in 2008.

He met the love of his life, Linda Redmond, and they were married on August 7, 1971, building their lifelong home on the hill in Jefferson.

Denny was a devoted servant of Christ, sharing his love of music by singing in the choir and, most recently, playing bells at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church. One of his greatest accomplishments was reading and studying the Bible from cover to cover (twice) with his adult Sunday School class.

In his spare time, he enjoyed his bowling league and attending as many band events and track meets as he could for his children while they grew up. Later in life, he became known as “Pap” to his grandchildren and cheered them on through many musicals and plays, as well as Pinewood Derbies. Denny loved taking cruises with the friends he made in the local AARP chapter and, when not traveling, could usually be found playing “Hand and Foot” card games.

Not to show too much favoritism to his fellow humans, Denny also loved the company of his canine fur-babies, Copper, Benny, and Kip, and his grand-fur-babies, Penny, Julian, and Max.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Linda; their son, Ryan Jenkins, and his wife, Kristen, and their children, Anya and Braiden, of Ashburn, VA; daughter, Marcie Kozlencer, and her husband, Brian, of Warrenton, VA; and his sister, Debbie Baker, of Knoxville, MD.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen and William; grandmother, Daisy Trussell; younger brother, Tom Jenkins; and his mother-in-law, Nellie Redmond.

The family will receive visitors at Keeney Basford Funeral Home in downtown Frederick on Thursday, January 29, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. A celebration of his amazing life, as evidenced by the people who knew and loved him, will be held at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, 9411 Baltimore Road, Frederick, MD 21704 at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 31, 2026. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Mt.
