Dolores Kipnis Ebert (Age 94)
Loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and “Queen of Government Contracts,” Dolores K. Ebert passed away peacefully this Tuesday, April 29, 2025, from complications of Alzheimer’s. She was the President and CEO of Atlas Employment Agency, the oldest employment agency in Washington, D.C. Dolores was a lifelong social activist, former director of the Jewish Social Action Caucus (JSAC) and a founding board member of S.O.M.E., a nonprofit in Washington, D.C. focused on homelessness and poverty.
She is recently pre deceased by her sister, Myra Zeleznik, and by brother-in-law Reivan Zeleznik. Dolores is the wife of Eugene Ebert, married for 72 years, and together they raised five children: Leslie Ebert (Jay Green), Eileen Ebert (Bruce Zavos), Karen Ebert (Mike Matthys), Larry Ebert, and Jan Ebert (Al Terrones). Dolores also has ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She is survived by her sister Irene Rosenbloom (Jeff Rosenbloom) and brother Allen Kipnis (Iris Kipnis) as well.
A funeral service will be held on Friday May 2, 2025 at the Temple Emanuel, 10101 Connecticut Ave., Kensington, MD 20895, at 11:45am. Zoom link is also available: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/87444380470. Interment will follow at George Washington / Mt. Lebanon Cemeteries, 9500 Riggs Road, Adelphi, MD 20783 at 2pm. Shabbat dinner will be held on Friday night May 2nd at 7pm at the home of Eileen and Bruce Zavos. Shiva will be held on Saturday night May 3rd at 7pm at the home of Eileen and Bruce Zavos. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and to S.O.M.E.
