Donna Mae Gambill

Donna Mae Burke Gambill, 93, passed away on April 04, 2026, at her home in Frederick, Maryland. Born on August 29, 1932, in Mill Bottom, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Howard Asbury Burke (1910-1944) and Pearl Viola Sheets Flohr (1914-2004). She was married to Vernon Mathew Gambill (1950-2010).

For Donna, gardening was more than a hobby; it was her "everyday therapy." She took great joy in tending to her yard, which was filled with many varieties of flowers, though her gardenias and azaleas held a special place in her heart. When she wasn't in her garden, Donna could often be found at the bowling alley. A dedicated duckpin bowler for many years, she maintained her competitive spirit and love for the game well into her later years, finally retiring from the sport at the age of 85.

Her greatest joy, however, was her family. She was a devoted mother to her children, Kenneth L Gambill and Cynthia Lynn Watson. Her legacy continues through her 9 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly.

She will be remembered for her resilience, her green thumb, and the deep love she shared with her growing family.
