Earl Lee Nelson, III died peacefully on December 21, 2025 in Frederick, Maryland. He was the loving and devoted husband of the late Roberta Lea Nelson (nee Cross).
Earl was born in Baltimore City, Maryland on May 14, 1942 to the late Mary Virginia (nee Fox) and the late Earl Lee Nelson, Jr. He resided in Glen Burnie, where he and Roberta raised their family and made many friends and neighbors.
Earl was a master electrician for General Motors at their now-defunct Broening Highway Plant.
He spent many of his retirement years taking Sadie his dog for walks while chatting with every available neighbor. He loved Sudoku, watching old westerns, and fixing things. He loved to collect things such as coins, trains, but most of all stray cats. He had the biggest heart and welcomed every cat into his home and heart. Earl was a loving man known for not judging people and always giving people the benefit of the doubt. He loved to talk and tell amazing stories, sharing his words of wisdom. He never let time go by without telling his loved ones how much they meant to him. For over 50 years he lived a love story, truly becoming one with his wife Roberta.
Earl is the father of Stacy Lea Nelson Wright (Ira) of New Market, MD. Denene Michelle Nelson Yates (Charles) and Earl Lee Nelson, IV. He is the grandfather of Natalie and Nicholas Wright; Beth, Daniel, David, Rachel and Joel Yates and Heather Morrison and Heidie Meletyev and Brandon Nelson. He is great grandfather of Lillian Morrison Wilford, Zachary, Abigail, Lizzie and Timothy Morrison and Leon Melentyev. He is survived by his sister Eileen Payne.
In addition to his parents and loving wife, Earl was preceded in death by his late sister Dorcas Derouin and his late grandson Earl Lee Nelson, V.
A memorial mass will be offered for Earl and Roberta in the near future. Due notice of services will be given.
