Eva June Smith

Eva June Harley Smith, 91, of Hanover, Pennsylvania, formerly of Frederick, Maryland, passed on Monday February 2, 2026, at the Hanover Hall Nursing Center. Born in Frederick on June 24, 1934, to the late Norman R. and Lola P. (Stone) Harley. She was the beloved wife of 51 years to the late G. Herbert Smith.

June graduated from Frederick High School in 1952. She would work for Price Electric and Sagner Tailoring Company.

June was a loving mother and care giver to her children, her grandchildren, and 27 children through the foster care system. She loved to go antiquing, play bingo, and go dancing at the Moose Club with her husband.

She is survived by; her son Jeffrey Herbert Smith and daughter Jeanenne Boyer (Larry), her brother Jerry E. Harley, her grandchildren, Jeff Herbert Smith, Jr., Sherri L. Hickey, and Amanda N. Bishop (Matthew), her great-grandchildren, Audriana, Raelynn, Amelia, Trinity, Abigail, Matalyn, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her grandson Robert Bruce Hickey, her sister Louise Miller, and sister-in-law Gayle Harley.

Family and friends can gather at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701, on Friday February 6, 2026, from 10am until the start of the funeral at 11am. Interment to follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Yellow Springs.
