Evelyn Mae Wilcom of Monrovia, MD, passed away peacefully at her home on October 28, 2025. She was the wife of the late Michael J. Wilcom, who she married in 1958. She was born in New Midway, MD on November 18, 1937, and was the daughter of the late Hilda Mae Wetzel and Roger Roland Fogle.
She is survived by her son Christopher Wilcom (Robin), grandaughters; Alexis Renee Wilcom, Marisa Nicole Wilcom, grandson Joshua Wayne Wilcom, great grandchildren; Colvin, Julian, Laryn, Dakota and Wyatt, nieces and nephews and family friend and caregiver Lori Gibbons. Evelyn She is predeceased by her sons Michael J. Wilcom, Jr. and Mark Wayne Wilcom, her grandson Corey Wilson, her sisters Betty Lee and Alice Robertson.
Evelyn was a graduate of Frederick High School of Frederick High School in 1955 and Frederick Memorial Hospital's School of Nursing in 1958. She worked as a registered nurse for various doctors in Montgomery County for 35 years.
Evelyn and her family ran a dairy farm in Monrovia, MD. She was very active in the farming community. Her passion was working with children about agricultural education. She was a member of the Frederick County Farm Bureau for 60 years where she served as the Director, Chairman of the Frederick County Farm Bureau Women's Committee and the Maryland Farm Bureau Women. In 2021 she was the Agri Woman of the Year for the Maryland Farm Bureau. She also served as committee Chair for the Education Committee for the Maryland Agricultural Education Foundation. She won an award from the National Ag in the classroom and National Grange. She helped start the City Streets and Country Roads Exhibit at the Great Frederick Fair and worked at that exhibit and the Farm and Garden Building for over 35 years. She was chairman of the Southern States Women's Committee and volunteered at New Market Volunteer Fire Department.
A viewing will be held at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick, MD on Sunday, November 2, 2025 from 4 - 7 PM. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Ignatius of Loyola Church, 4103 Prices Distillery Road, Ijamsville, MD, will be celebrated on Monday, November 3, 2025 at 12:30 PM. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
