Ida Knode Boyd, age 89, passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at The Record Street Home where she had resided for the past year. She was born in Frederick County, MD on February 12, 1936, the youngest child of Oscar H. and Flora E. Wachter Michael.
Ida was a long-time employee of Safeway Stores. She was a member of Braddock Lutheran Church. She loved to read, did beautiful embroidery needlework, and enjoyed the weekly quilting sessions with her sister, Mildred, and nieces Carole Zimmerman and Barbara DeRocher.
She is survived by her daughter Penny Dickensheets (Michael T.), grandchildren Dylan Free (Leslie) and Michael L. Dickensheets (Abbie Herald) and great-grandchildren: Camden and Olivia Free, and Teagan Herald. Special thanks to her nieces Carole Zimmerman (husband Greg) and Barbara DeRocher who provided support to her in her later years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton R. Boyd and all of her siblings: Fannie Mehaffie, Alva (Bud) Michael, Hattie Bender, Ruth Rice, Betty Blank, Mary Knott, Charles Michael, and Mildred Cline.
A celebration of life service will be held at Braddock Lutheran Church, 6938 N. Clifton Road, Frederick, MD on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at 10 a.m. Burial of Ida and Milton’s cremains will follow at Ketoctin Baptist Church Cemetery, 16595 Ketoctin Church Road, Purcellville, VA.
