Jack Lee Mann was born in Bartholomew County Hospital in Columbus, Indiana on May 7, 1941 to the late Richard A. Mann and Elda (Cook) Brown. Due to his father's untimely death, Elda remarried Carl Brown in 1945, who raised Jack and his five siblings—teaching Jack his unwavering work ethic, the ins and outs of farming, and how to fix pretty much anything.
Jack loved his home town. Attending a two room school house through the eighth grade, Jack graduated from Columbus High School in 1959 as a local football hero, and went on to earn a degree in Business Administration from Indiana State University in 1963. The following year he married his high school sweetheart and wife of sixty years, Pamela Anne (Mueller) Mann, welcoming their first child, Christopher in 1967 and their second son Brian in 1970. Having joined Arthur Andersen LLP as an accountant in their audit division, in 1971, Jack was transferred to Arthur Andersen's Washington, D.C. office and the family moved to Potomac, MD. Here Elizabeth (Betsy) was added to the family. During these years Jack built both a career and a family, loving his wife and kids beyond measure, gaining the trust and respect of his colleagues, and offering endless generosity to everyone around him.
In 1998 Jack and Pam retired to Annapolis, MD where they spent the remainer of their lives hosting friends and family, enjoying the water and playing a great deal of golf with his son Chris, his lifelong best friend, David Bloomenstock, and his nephew John David Bloomenstock. During his retirement years, Jack also became very involved with the Special Olympics of Montgomery County. On any given weekend you could find him coaching his son Brian's ski team, as well as assisting his daughter Betsy (Mann) Jiron with her work as Senior Director of Special Events.
To say Jack will be missed is an understatement. He was beloved by all that knew him, an inspiration and role model to many. Jack is survived by his three children, Chris, Brian and Betsy; his siblings Michael and Linda Brown; his grandson Christopher Jack ("CJ") Mann; the beloved Bloomenstock clan; and his "bonus" daughter, Sandy Richter. The family extends a special thanks to Celestina Ibe who has cared for Jack so well in this final year of his life.
