James (Jim) T. Muldoon III, 90, passed away at home on February 19, 2026, with his wife by his side.
Jim was born on July 10, 1935, in Lowell, MA. He was the son of the late Irene (Hughes) Muldoon and James T. Muldoon, Jr. He joined the Army after graduation from Lowell High School in 1953. After basic training, he was stationed at Fort Detrick in Frederick, MD where he met and later married the former Ruth Main on September 22, 1956.
Jim had a lifelong love of sports. In his younger years, he boxed in the Silver Mittens and worked as a caddie at the Country Club, where he discovered a passion for golf that lasted throughout his life. He also gave back to his community by managing in the 13–15 Babe Ruth League for 13 years.
He worked as an HVAC mechanic for 23 years at Blue Ridge Oil Co., followed by another 23 years at Griffith. Even after retirement, Jim enjoyed staying active, working part-time at W.A. Tolbard until the age of 80.
He was a member of the Frederick Elks Lodge 684, Frederick American Legion Post 0011, and the Korean War Veterans.
He is survived by his wife Ruth, daughter Jamie Tammariello and husband Ralph, granddaughter Alexandra and husband Dimas Martinez, sister Patricia Anderson and husband Norman, brother Larry Muldoon, and sister-in-law Dotty Grimes and husband Tom, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E, Church Street, Frederick, MD, on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, from 12:00 to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service. A private interment will take place thereafter.
