James Michael Stockman

Mr. James M. Stockman peacefully passed away on February 2, 2024. James was born on December 21, 1930, to the late Wilhelmina and John W. Stockman and was raised in Frederick, Maryland. James is survived by his sister, Karen Miller, and brother-in-law, Austin (Rick) Miller, as well as nieces and nephews: Janet (John) Henry, Greg (Lorianna) Miller, Richard Easterday, Luann (Marion) Earp, Lisa (Frankie)·Foreman, and Mark (Kathy) Easterday. James was preceded in death by his sister, June Deloris Easterday, and nephew, David Carroll Easterday. James was a successful athlete, playing basketball and baseball at the University of Maryland. James graduated from the University of Maryland in 1953 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education. James returned to Frederick, where he pursued a career in real estate. James was incredibly proud of his years coaching the American Legion and Babe Ruth All-Stars baseball teams spanning over eight years, with his teams playing in five state championships. As James found success, he pledged to give back to the community. With a desire to help fellow Terrapin athletes, he donated to the University of Maryland for the establishment of the James M. Stockman Endowed Scholarship for Intercollegiate Athletics. Experiencing his father's cancer diagnosis and treatment, he became a long-time donor to the Frederick Health Hospital, formerly Frederick Memorial Hospital, including the establishment of the James M. Stockman Cancer Institute. The family will have a private ceremony at Keeney & Basford Funeral Homes, P.A.
