Jerry Eugene Harley, 89, of Yellow Springs, passed away Saturday, February 28, 2026. He was the son of the late Norman and Lola Pearl Harley. He was married to Gayle Yvonne Flair Harley until her death in 2002. He was preceded in death by his sister Eva June Harley Smith on February 2, 2026.
After becoming a certified licensed well driller, he worked for Keyser Garver Well Drilling for 52 years, until his retirement.
He served his country during the Cuban Missile Crisis as a military police officer in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
He enjoyed spending time at his cabin in Oakland Md. with his family, four-wheeling and porch sitting. At his home in Yellow Springs he enjoyed chatting with friends and waving at people passing by.
He was a lifetime member of the Amvets and attended many festivities there.
He loved and collected model trains.
He is survived by his sons, Dale “Huck” Harley (Deborah) and Craig Harley, his grandsons Jacob (Cricket) and Andrew Harley, his great grandchildren “his precious papooses”, Evelyn and Bradley Harley.
He will be remembered by many friends and extended family.
The family would like to thank Beth and Eric Moltere and Sylvia Springer for assisting the family with continued support and care of Jerry following the death of his beloved wife Gayle.
Friends and relatives are invited to join Dale and Craig at Brook Hill Cemetery, 8900 Yellow Springs Road, Frederick, MD. 21702 on Monday, March 9, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. for a committal service.
