Joan Frances Boyer

Joan Frances Boyer (nee Dugan) died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, August 27, 2026.

Joan was born on November 21, 1938, in Baltimore City, MD. to the late Teresa A. Brannan and the late Dennis A. Dugan. She grew up on Mt. Holly Street in Baltimore, a parishioner of St. Bernadine Parish, attending grade school there as well. After graduating St. James Business School, she gained employment at Sealtest Foods where she worked for eighteen years, holding various positions in the Baltimore location and various satellite branches. Her focus was raw milk intake from local farms, making monthly government reports from which the price of milk paid to dairy farmers was determined, then issued checks to the respective farmers, their haulers and co-operatives.

While employed at Sealtest Foods, Joan met her husband, Eugene Blessing Boyer, Sr., and moved to Knoxville, MD., joining him in his family business, B & B Milk Transportation. Joan lost her beloved husband in 1995.

The family they built was the love of her life and her greatest joy. Making her home her sanctuary, she took pride in decorating for each season especially keeping welcoming flowers on her porch.

As an empty-nester, she joined Bon Ton Department Stores as a sales associate.

Joan was very active in her faith as a parishioner of the now shuttered St. Mary Catholic Church, Knoxville, serving as a lecture, usher, and Eucharistic minister until its closing. She was a member of the Catholic Daughter’s Court Mary Francis serving as treasurer for four years and regent from 2006 until 2010. She volunteered in her community at Frederick Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, AARP Chapter 636 and the Jefferson Homemakers Club.

Joan is survived by her children Eugene B. Boyer, Jr. and his wife Terri of Chandler, AZ., Dennis A. Boyer, Sr. and his wife Brenda of Jefferson, MD., and Teresa Ann Goff and her husband Milton of Brunswick, MD. She is the adoring grandmother of Aiden Boyer of Chandler, AZ., Dennis A. Boyer, Jr. and his wife Lacy of Hagerstown, MD., Justin, Matt, Ryan and Brandon Boyer of Knoxville, MD., John Mark and Ronan Waters of Brunswick, MD., Jonathan Lawton of Jefferson, MD., and Stephanie Hubble and her husband Daniel of Middletown, MD. She is great grandmother of Kassie, Lylah, and Matthew Boyer and Kayleigh, Colton and Cameron Hubble.

Friends and relatives are invited to visit at Keeney & Basford Funeral Homes, P.A. 106 E. Church St. Frederick, MD. 21701 on Monday August 31, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
A Funeral Mass will be offered on Tuesday, September 1, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Family Catholic Community, 7321 Burkittsville Rd. Middletown, MD. 21769.
