Judy Varie Twentey Putman, age 82, passed on to her Heavenly Home on Monday, September 28, 2026 at Autumn Lake/ Glade Valley; she had been a resident there for over ten years. Judy was the daughter of Eva June Morgan Twentey and George Ross “Pete” Twentey. Besides her parents, Judy was predeceased by her brothers, Lennie, Rudy and Peter Twentey and one infant sister, Jennie.

Judy is survived by her three children: Eva Beavan, Becky Franzak (Jay) and Larry Putman (Marina) as well as grandchildren: Laurel, Patrick (Casey) and Calvert (Victoria) Beavan, Randy Baugher (Kelsey), Kristin Hagan (Brandon), Christopher Putman, Alicia Robertson, Jaclyn Franzak, Jacob Franzak (Alyssa), Josh Franzak (Claire)and great-grandchildren: Bryson Baugher, Bristol Baugher and Grant Franzak. She is also survived by a brother, Ronnie Twentey (Trish) and two sisters-in-law: Doris Twentey and Patty Twentey.

Judy led an interesting and accomplished life. She grew up with four brothers and did everything they did, usually better. She was an athlete, playing softball and participating in track and field. She went to the 1964 Olympic trials for javelin-throwing, where she met the late great Wilma Rudolph. She was a competitive marksman, earning many honors and trophies for her “sharp eye.” She was a member of the Cresap Rifle Club and coached the junior rifle club for many years. She enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.

Judy worked as a contractor with the Department of Energy for thirty years. She loved her work and retired only after becoming disabled from a stroke in 2010. Despite her disabilities, Judy remained positive and as independent as possible. During her years at the nursing home, she made many friends, participated in various activities and maintained her sense of humor. In just the past few years, she discovered that she had a gift for drawing and painting and spent many hours painting pictures for others to enjoy.

Judy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She had a deep faith in God and would always say: “I’ll be fine, God will take care of me.” We know He will. We love you, Mom.
