It is with heavy hearts that we share that Kenneth (Kenny) L. Spore of New Market, Maryland passed away unexpectedly on February 7, 2024 at Frederick Health Hospital after a brief illness; he was surrounded by family and friends.
Ken was born on May 30, 1970 in Silver Spring, Maryland. The majority of his life he grew up in Frederick, MD, graduating from Frederick High School in 1988. Ken worked as a Physical Security Specialist at the Social Security Administration for 21 years. He served as an official for Frederick County Football for 18 years, ending his tenure there as Commissioner.
Ken loved keeping his cars spotless, his years-long lawn maintenance competition with Mr. Ed, the Washington Redskins, NASCAR, his many dogs (Toby, McGrath, Katara, and Floyd), and his beloved recliner. He always loved dirt bikes and recently rediscovered his love for motorcycles often enjoying riding with his son. Ken’s competitive nature always had him racing to win anything. He was an avid runner, too stubborn for an iPhone, and made a mean cocktail.
Ken is survived by his two children, Bailey Connor and Keifer Ryley, their mom and former wife Kelly Kearney Spore; his mother, Sharon Graham Spore (Calabash, NC); his sister Deborah Spore Stuck, brother-in-law, Douglas Stuck (Leesburg, VA), their children Mason and Eve; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends. He is also remembered by his very special friend, Nikki Moore. Ken is preceded in death by his father, James Spore.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the giver’s charity of choice in Ken’s name. The family will hold a celebration of life in Ken’s honor in the coming weeks.
