Betsy was a lifelong member of the Evangelical Reformed United Church of Christ, where her faith was expressed through decades of service. She taught Sunday School, served several terms as an Elder, and served two terms as President of the Consistory.
Her commitment to Frederick extended throughout the community. Betsy was a member of the Garden Club of Frederick for 44 years, serving in numerous leadership positions, including as President. She was also a lifelong member of the Friends of Baker Park and served for many years on its Board of Directors.
She served several terms on the Board of Directors of the Delaplaine Visual Arts Education Center, was the youngest life member of the Auxiliary Board at Frederick Health Hospital, volunteered with the PTA for 22 years, and served on the Board of Associates at Hood College.
