Lee Reed Jr.

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Marvin Lee Reed, Jr. on June 18, 2025.

Lee was a friendly and vibrant person, who enjoyed spending time with friends. A life long resident of Frederick and proud graduate of the Rock Creek School, he enjoyed riding the buses, going to concerts and events in Downtown Frederick, and participated in many community activities. He especially enjoyed going to “his concerts” on Sunday nights at Baker Park, calling friends to get the schedule months in advance, and seldom missing a concert!

Throughout his life he attended many churches in the community, sometimes multiple in a week, and enjoyed visiting with friends from there. He would meet with some friends one morning a week, and always looked forward to getting coffee and breakfast with them!

Lee was a proud advocate, and enjoyed meeting with his friends each month at his self-advocacy group, Working Together, through The Arc of Frederick County. When he was able, he would also visit Annapolis every year to speak with legislators about the importance of supporting those with disabilities. He participated in a variety of Special Olympics sports, both during school and after. He also attended both the Karaoke Buddies and the Best Buddies programs with lifelong friends from school.

When at home, and sometimes when out, Lee loved to be on the phone, checking in with friends and getting the latest gossip. He enjoyed meeting new people and making new friends. He will be missed by all who knew him!
