Mr. Melvin Harrison "Dick" Dixon, 93, of Frederick, died Tuesday, May 10, 2022. He was the loving husband of the late K. Virginia (Garber) Dixon, who preceded him in death in 2003.
Born January 3, 1929 in Libertytown, he was the son of the late John Harrison and Mary Mae (Morgan) Dixon.
Melvin, retired from Potomac Edison in 1991 going from Appliance Salesman to Property Settlement Attorney, while graduating from Penn State during his first few years of employment. After his retirement he enjoyed golfing and becoming Business Associates to a private race horse breeder and Amour Flowers. Dick was known for buying cars every year or two and collecting model cars. He was an avid horse racing fan and loved Thoroughbred Horses. He was a hardworking, generous, humorous, kind hearted person that would do anything for you. He especially loved his family and would go out of his way for them. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his daughters; Roxie Vickers and Sherri Dixon (Brian King). Melvin is survived by one sister, Mrs. Pauline Hoffman, 97, who has been his Pal ever since he could remember . Grandchilden include, Renee Morgan (Wayne), Jennifer Harding and Michelle Harding;, Great-grandchildren are; Kiri Porter (Jenna), Naomi Shewbridge, Katelyn Alfred, Michael Alfred and Julianna Jones; special friends; Thelma Harding and Cappie Harding. Melvin will be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Dixon was preceded in death by his sister; Lillian Cramer and her husband Austin Cramer. Brother-in-Law Nelson Hoffman.; James B Cornell, Son-in-Law(Roxie). Pre-deceased friends include Dr. Richard P Murphy and Casper Harding, Sr.
The family will receive friends from 10am to 11am, on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick. The funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00AM. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
