Michael Van Pugh Sr.

Michael Van Pugh Sr., 80, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2026. He is lovingly survived by Linda Pugh, his wife of 49 years; his four siblings, Rebecca (Lee Sanders), Randy Pugh, Brad Pugh (Lynn Pugh), and Robert Pugh; his two children, Michael Van Pugh Jr. and Shelly Pugh (Thomas Clagett); his grandchildren, Ryanne Givens (Max Givens), Matthew Pugh (Leah Pugh), Peytyn Lofland (Owen VanDeventer), and the late Morganne Lofland; and his great-grandchildren, Ronan, Paris, and Misha Givens.

Born to Frantz and Eva Pugh in Elkins, West Virginia, Michael spent 32 years of his career in the Washington, D.C. area, with the U.S. Courts, U.S. Park Service, and the United States Secret Service. After retiring, Michael and Linda settled in North Carolina, where they lived for 25 years, before recently moving to Frederick, Maryland, to be closer to family.

A memorial service celebrating Michael’s exceptional life will be held on Thursday, November 12th at 10:00 AM at St. John’s the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 118 East 2nd Steet, Frederick MD. We invite all who knew and loved Michael to join us in honoring his memory.

Remembrances may be made in the form of a donation to the Frederick County Humane Society, 1786 N Market Street, Frederick, MD 21701. He will be greatly missed and forever remembered.
