Trish Ben-Avraham, 72, of Frederick, passed peacefully at Frederick Health Hospital surrounded by her family. Wife to David, mother to Deborah and Alex, mother-in-law to Alex and middle sister to 6 sisters, she was the centre around which the family lived. Born in Plymouth, England she emigrated to the USA in 1991, where she married, and later had her son Alex. She enjoyed working temporary jobs, most of all in instrument repair and a cookie company. For being a ‘wild child’, she was tolerant and gracious to all she met, the stories her sisters could repeat would be hilarious.
Her daughter-in-law Alex relates: In the beginning of her son and daughter-in-law’s relationship, they were going to go on a picnic in Baker Park. Unfortunately, it began raining and they couldn’t go. Instead, Trish laid out a throw blanket in the living room complete with one of her mini bird toys so that they could still have a picnic anyway. Trish also enjoyed the holidays and was kind enough to make sure her daughter-in-law had a proper British Christmas cake every year.
Throughout her life she was inventive no matter what would come her way, creating matching outfits for her and her daughter Deborah, sewing dancing costumes, learning to decorate wedding cakes. This would stand her in stead for the many children she fostered in England, having an innate flexibility to face whatever happened.
A faithful member of Parkway Community Church, she embraced music and could be seen bringing a tambourine to service – to the embarrassment of her daughter.
Her service will be held at Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, Wednesday 8th Oct, 130pm visitation beginning at 1pm, with internment at Morris Orchard Natural Burial New Orchard after. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to Parkway Community Church. Please do not wear black to the funeral, which Trish did not want, but plenty of colour.
