Patricia Crum Zigler

Mrs. Patricia (Patsy) Crum Zigler, aged 91, of Frederick, MD and formerly of Charles Town, WV passed away peacefully on December 19, 2025, at Record Street Home. She was the wife of the late Ward Lloyd Zigler, husband of over 64 years. She was born on April 29,1934 in Frederick, MD, daughter of the late Clarence Raymond and Helen Ada (nee Thomas) Crum.

Mrs. Zigler was a graduate of Frederick High School, class of 1952. She was well known as a pitcher in high school for the softball fast pitch team, as well as the North End Civic Association sponsored women’s team and the Maryland Women’s Softball League Fast Pitch Team. Patsy also enjoyed her time in the Red Hat Society. She and husband Ward at times filled the role of Mr. and Mrs. Claus for the old BonTon in Frederick. Patsy and Ward started farming in 1953 in Frederick and in 1969/1970 moved to Jefferson County, WV to continue dairy operations. Mrs. Zigler was a member of the Jefferson County Farm Bureau, and participated in visiting European countries in order to provide instruction in agriculture for the Center for Excellence in Education. Patsy enjoyed the monthly luncheons with fellow FHS alumni, spending time with grandchildren, many years of playing cards with friends and family members, and participating in the multiple activities provided at Record Street Home.

Mrs. Zigler is survived by son Richard (Susan) Zigler of Charles Town, WV, daughter Patricia Zigler Wachter of Frederick, MD, daughter Jean Zigler (Robert) Kotch of Pompano Beach, FL.; grandchildren Andria Snyder, Laura Snyder Tinney, Joshua Zigler, Amanda Zigler Habel, Thomas Wachter, and Kirsten Wachter Teal; great-grand children Evan Snyder, Juniper &; Marilyn Habel, and Carter Teal; brother Clarence R. (Mary) Crum, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Zigler was preceded in death by husband Ward, daughter and son-in-law Susan and John Snyder, son-in-law M. Allen Wachter, and granddaughter Ashton Wachter. She was additionally predeceased by brother George Crum, sister Isabel Kefauver & husband Kenneth, sister Mildred Nicodemus & husband Roger, sister Ida Francis Zimmerman & husband Thomas, brothers-in-law Harold Zigler & wife Caroline, Donald (LaRue) Zigler, and David (Betty-jean Hunter) Zigler, as well as nephews Roger Nicodemus and Robert Kefauver.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, from 10:00 – 11:30 AM at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick, where services will be held in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home from 11:30 AM to 12:00 noon. The Rev. Kathy Altman will officiate. The interment will be private at the Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.

Contributions in honor of Mrs. Patricia Zigler may be made to the Record Street Home, 115 Record Street, Frederick, MD 21701, where she resided since 2021. The family very much appreciated and is grateful for the care and attention she received by the staff.
