Raymond Martin Poole

Raymond Martin Poole, 83 of Ijamsville, MD passed away on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at home surrounded by his family. Born on October 21, 1941, he was the son of the late Charles Hubert Poole and the late Edna Cashour Poole.

Along with his late parents, Raymond was preceded in death by his brothers, “Jim” Poole and Howard Poole.
Raymond is survived by his wife of 53 years, Vivian Simmons Poole. He also leaves behind his son, Jeffery Poole (Patty) and daughter, Tammy Dorsey (Jerry); three granddaughters, Carissa Poole, Melissa Poole, and Daryenne Dorsey; brother Norman Poole, sister Mary Smith (Emanuel), five great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
After graduating Frederick High School’s Class of 1959, he worked in construction most of his adult life.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Vikram Sodhi, Dr. Anusha Belani and Dr. Ravi Patel for their care and compassion during Raymond’s illness.
Raymond will be remembered by his morning coffee group at Burger King in New Market: Dave Bowman, Charlie Ecker, Maurice Hayter, Denny Hood, Jerry Shanks, and Bo Smith. As well as managers Ken and Danila Blake.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit at Keeney & Basford Funeral Homes, P.A. 106 E. Church St. Frederick, MD. 21701 on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A funeral service will be on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Prospect Cemetery, 5923 Woodville Rd, Mt Airy, MD 21771. Pallbearers will be: Dave Bowman, Denny Hood, Jerry Dorsey, Ricky Pangle, Bruce Hottinger, and Dean Burrier.
A celebration of life will be held at the New Market Volunteer Fire Company, 76 West Main St, New Market, MD 21774 immediately following the interment.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Raymond’s name to the New Market Volunteer Fire Company, 76 West Main St, New Market, MD 21774.
