After serving as an instructor and associate professor of English at several community colleges, Richard was employed as a consultant, training analyst and senior research specialist for many years for various entities including the United States Army. He authored and co-authored various publications in these capacities.

Richard’s talents and interests were many: author, chef, pilot, master woodworking craftsman, teacher, genealogical researcher, computer expert, mentor, raconteur, problem solver, historian, researcher, naturalist, academic task-master and truth- teller. However, his true joy was found in the mutually faithful and steadfast marriage he and Martha shared for over forty-five years. Together, they navigated joys as well as hardships and touched the lives of many with their generosity and compassion.
