Robert Wayne Baer

Robert (Bob) Wayne Baer, 78, of Jefferson, Maryland, passed away on October 6, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Bob was born August 1, 1948, in Frederick, Maryland to Robert and Joan Baer. He graduated from Frederick High School in 1966 and worked in truck parts until retirement in 2020. His favorite thing to do was to participate in the demolition derby at the Frederick Fair, which he did most of his adult life. On December 31 1985 he married the love of his life Rita. For 40 years they shared a marriage of love and devotion.

As a father, Bob was a constant anchor. His children knew they were his greatest pride and joy.

Bob is survived by his wife Rita Wetzel Baer; his children Brandon Baer of Hagerstown, MD, Andrew Baer of Frederick, MD and stepson Eddie Hemp of Brooklyn, Michigan.

The family will receive friends at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street on Friday, October 9, 2026 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. A Memorial service will be held beginning at 1:00 pm. Interment will be private.
