Robert Julian “Bobby” Harris, 70, of Frederick, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, June 12, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on May 30, 1956, in Frederick, Bobby was the son of the late Julian and Roberta Harris.
Known to many as “Stinky,” Bobby spent his entire life working as an excavator. He owned and operated his own excavating company for many years and was known for his strong work ethic, dedication, and reliability. Bobby rarely missed a day of work and often worked six days a week to provide for his family. There wasn’t a piece of equipment he couldn’t operate.
Outside of work, Bobby had a passion for Harley-Davidson motorcycles. His most prized possession was his 1947 Knucklehead.
Bobby is survived by his wife of 33 years, Christine Harris; his children, Julian Harris, Nicole Minnick and husband Corey, and Michael Jay Ott and fiancée Lindsey; and his cherished grandchildren, Noah and Rachel Minnick, Rylee and Michael Ott, Blake and Logan Main. He is also survived by his sister, Judy Calhoun, and her husband, Duane. He shared a special bond with his great-nieces, Sophia and Rosabella Ricketts, and his great-nephew, Wade Ricketts.
He is further survived by his mother-in-law, Terry Naundorf, and her husband, James Naundorf.
In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his sister, Debbie Ramsburg, and his father-in-law, Jay Gastley.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Hospice of Frederick County for the compassionate care and support they provided during this difficult time.
A celebration of Bobby’s life will be held on Saturday, June 27, at 1:00 p.m. at Edgewood Church of God, 8204 Edgewood Church Road, Frederick, Maryland.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Frederick County in Bobby’s memory.
