Sonja Ann Smith was born October 9th 1969, she passed in her sleep peacefully on August 10th 2026, and was cremated August 17th. She is survived by her children Erica and Lillie Pearre, her grandchildren Edward and Elton Ponchock, brother Corky, parents Don and Sonja Smith and her best friend Carl. She had many friends with her closest being Carole, Dana, and Cyndie.
Ann loved a cold beer on a hot day, especially outside with friends and family; Whether it was around a fire, at a picnic table picking crab legs, or on the porch talking shit. Unless there was snow on the ground you could find Ann in flip flops. The beach was her favorite place, toes in the sand, specifically in Ocean City between 19th and 23rd street watching the sun rise. She finally got to experience Hawaii with her daughter Lillie in 2023 and had big plans to explore more beaches in the future.
Ann was an avid photographer, typically found quietly watching birds or Stubby the squirrel. Her favorite person called her “Meemaw”, and Edward was the light of her life. They shared their love of the outdoors through photography, backyard play and wildlife.
Sonja Ann had a mouth like a sailor and wasn't afraid to use it. She was a strong, self sufficient woman, who worked hard and raised her daughters to do the same.
Our mother did not believe in having a viewing or funeral- she wanted a true party. She always said she wanted music, laughter, drinks and everyone having a good time. We are planning a celebration of life, details to follow at a later date.
Have a margarita in her honor - we know she's having one with Skinny somewhere right now.
