Harpers Ferry

Viktor Galkin, 71, of Harpers Ferry, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 30, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on August 5, 1954, in Moscow, Russia, to the late Viktor and Valentina Galkin.

Viktor earned a Master's degree in Computer Science from the National Research Nuclear University MEPHI in Moscow. He later continued his education at the Russian Foreign Trade Academy, where he earned an Executive MBA. His lifelong pursuit of knowledge and professional excellence was reflected throughout his distinguished career.

Viktor was a kind, compassionate, and honorable man whose warmth touched everyone who knew him. There was a saying that perfectly described him: "Children and animals loved him." It truly captured the essence of who he was.

He had a remarkable gift for connecting with children and an extraordinary love for animals. Whether it was a cat, a dog, a hamster, or even a wild animal in need, he was always ready to help, to care, and to make sure no one went hungry.

His family was the center of his life, and his presence filled their home with love, warmth, and happiness. He was the heart of the family, the one everyone naturally gathered around.

Viktor was an exceptional professional, creative and resourceful, with a remarkable ability to find solutions to even the most difficult problems. He generously shared his knowledge and experience, always willing to offer guidance, lend a helping hand, or support those who needed him.

Above all, he was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a man of unshakeable integrity. He was someone you could always depend on, a source of strength, kindness, and quiet wisdom. His generosity, compassion, and steadfast love will be remembered by all whose lives he touched.

Viktor’s memory will forever remain in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Irina Galkin; his son, Yevgeniy Galkin; his daughter-in-law, Yelena; and his grandchildren, Andrew and Elizabeth Galkin.
