Wayne Watkins, 76, of Monrovia, MD, passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully, at home on November 25, 2025.

Born May 28, 1949, Wayne is survived by his daughter, Melissa Bickley and her husband James; brother Dave Watkins and his wife Sheila, and nephews David and Peter. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Brenda and his parents, David and Agnes Watkins.

Wayne was born and raised in Plymouth, Pennsylvania He was a graduate of Wyoming Valley West High School. In 1968 he married his high school sweetheart, Brenda, and enlisted in the Coast Guard, where he became a radioman. He was stationed in several places, but he spoke most highly of his time on the USCG cutter Androscoggin. After ten years, he was honorably discharged and settled with his wife and daughter in his hometown of Plymouth, Pennsylvania.

Wayne then worked for over 30 years at Tobyhanna Army Depot. He retired in 2014 as the Tactical Missile Chief. He was well respected among his peers and superiors. Throughout his life, Wayne was an avid golfer. He and his wife belonged to various golf leagues and made many friends through their love of the game.

In 2021 he moved to Maryland to live with his daughter and son-in-law.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to “K9s for Warriors” https://donate.k9sforwarriors.org/, a provider of trained Service Dogs for military veterans suffering from PTSD and traumatic brain injury.

The family will host a celebration of Wayne’s life at a future date.
