Wayne Lee Wiles

January 20, 1948 — February 17, 2024

Wayne Lee Wiles, 76, of Buckeystown, died at home on February 17, 2024. He was born at home on Ballenger Creek Pike on January 20, 1948 to the late Austin Charles Jacob Wiles and Ruth Naomi Grossnickle Wiles. Wayne was the husband of Frances Mayne Wiles for over 54 years, and the father of son Ashley Wayne Everett Wiles and daughter Abigail Eileen Wiles Ball, married to Stuart Ball. Grandchildren Austin Wayne Wiles, McKenzie Alexzandra Brown and Koen Lamar Moore came to finish the family roster (at this time). His much-loved grand dogs, Osha and Frank will miss him greatly. Wayne is survived by his brothers, Charles (Martha) and Robert (Claire) and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sister, Phyllis Agent. Wayne graduated from Frederick High School in the class of 1966. After working on the family farm Wayne became employed by Eastalco Aluminum in 1970 as an industrial equipment mechanic. He was gifted with the natural ability to construct machinery for use at the plant despite not having a formal education for such work. At the time of his leaving Eastalco he was the manager of the auto shop. Further employment was with N & S Rentals, Potomac Lift Truck, and Sunbelt Rentals. Wayne grew up in the 4-H program in Frederick County, carrying Dairy and Tractor Maintenance projects. His volunteerism and efforts on behalf of the 4-H organization earned him the recognition of Maryland 4-H All Star. Wayne was extremely active in Lions International, becoming a Melvin Jones Fellow awardee and serving a term as District 22W secretary. While a member of Trinity Evangelical and Reform Church of Adamstown Wayne served for some years as a member of the Consistory. At Flint Hill Methodist church he was a member of the board of trustees. For over 40 years Wayne could be found smoking meats for fundraisers for Lions Clubs, churches, fire company carnivals and private parties. Anything that could be fit into his self-constructed cooker was a pleasure for him to cook. Wayne was a member of the Carroll Manor Volunteer Fire Company and was the chairperson of the buildings and grounds committee, spending many hours a week maintaining the property. For several years he was recognized for the large number of hours spent on behalf of the Company.
