William Lee Dove

The family of William “Will” Lee Dove of Frederick is saddened to announce his passing on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at the age of 74.

Will was born February 2, 1951 to the late Arnold and Hilda Tobery Dove. He graduated summa cum laude from Mount Saint Mary’s University before establishing his own successful accounting practice. Known for his unwavering integrity and dedication, he built a reputation as a trustworthy and respected professional, always accompanied at the office by his beloved standard poodle, Cooper. Will found immense joy in the simple things: a day spent hunting or fishing, a good book, a cleverly crafted pun, or a song he would cheerfully whistle or sing. His love for the outdoors and his infectious good humor will be deeply missed.

Will is survived by his adoring wife of 50 years, Lillie Folk Dove; his children, Megan (Lucus) Steinkamp and Jesse (Jaimee) Dove; his grandchildren, Anais Steinkamp, Carmen Dove, Cecilia Dove, and Cullen Dove; his siblings, Mary Dove, Richard (Pam) Dove, Ronald Dove, and Susan (James) Wolfe; brother-in-law Melvin (Sara) Folk, Jr.; and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends can gather at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Homes, 106 East Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701, on Saturday August 16, 2025 from 12:30pm until the start of the memorial service at 1:30pm. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick, MD.
