William Franklin Suter III (Billy), 50, of Hagerstown, Maryland, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Tuesday May 20, 2025. Born in Hagerstown, MD on February 9, 1975, to William “Bill” Franklin Suter Jr, and Teresa Ann (Shepley) Suter.
Billy graduated from Frederick High School in 1993. After graduation, Billy began his career in the United States Army. He served his country proudly from 1997 until 2012. Billy was always a proud Patriot and devoted himself to serving his country. This included 4 years at Ft. Benning Georgia with multiple tours overseas and finishing with the National Guard Unit locally in Frederick. At his time of death, he was employed with James G. Davis Construction as Senior Estimating Manager. Where he established lifelong friendships with his co-workers during his tenure.
Billy was best known for being a loving husband, father, son, soldier, Staff Sgt., Pop Pop and friend. Family was his highest priority. Whether fishing, hunting, metal detecting for Civil War relics or family vacations, Billy immensely enjoyed nature and sharing that time with everyone. Waking up early in the mornings to go hunting with Hunter, Morgan, and Matt was a winter weekend ritual. Being a “Pop-Pop” was one of his highest achievements, this included attending all their games, concerts, ceremonies and often hosting their birthday parties in his backyard. Billy was a coach for youth football and wrestling while his son Hunter competed. Always putting other’s needs before his own was a big piece of who he was. He will be remembered for his big heart, loving demeanor, generosity and selflessness. He would do anything for anyone at any time.
Billy is survived by his wife, high school sweetheart of 35 years, Angie; his children, Courtney (Matt) and Hunter (Madison); his grandchildren Alyson and Conor; honorary grandson Hayden, his parents, Bill and Teresa; in-laws, Laura (Darryl) and Dave (Theresa) his brother Chris (Lori). He is also survived by extended family to include two brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law, whom he had a very close relationship with. 7 nieces and nephews and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Lastly, special friends Chris and Christine Scheber.
Billy was predeceased by both sets of maternal and paternal grandparents. Billy was also predeceased by his daughter Morgan in October of 2024.

The family will receive friends from 4pm to 7pm, on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick. The funeral service will be held at 11AM, on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
